The Optimist Creed

To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.

To make all your friends feel that there is something in them

To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press onto greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.

To be too large to worry, to noble for anger, to strong for fear, and to happy to permit the presence of trouble.

Piper Creek Optimist

24 Hour Relay 2004

This annual  fundraiser invites organizations, companies, and associations  to form teams of 20-25 people.  Each individual then raises pledges. Between Saturday, June 26/04 at 10 am. and Sunday, June 27/04 at 10 a.m. there was to be at least one team member running, walking or jogging their leg of the relay.  It is strictly a fun event with many exciting activities happening throughout the 24 hours.

The proceeds of the relay support the community projects of the Piper Creek Optimist Club. Their mandate is to support the youth in the area, including the Youth and Volunteer Center and are the sole supporters of the D.A.R.E. Program.

1999 was the first year of the relay in Red Deer and over $22,000 was raised.  In 2000 and 2001 over $32,000 was raised each year.  The total for 2002 stands at $54,000 and in 2003 over $37,000 was raised.

Larsen Family Chiropractic placed a team in the relay to support such a worthy cause.  We would like to thank those individuals who helped make a difference in our community:

The weather was awesome with blue skies and a slight breeze.  So much better than freezing like we did last year! Some of us walked and some ran but all enjoyed the scenic course.  People came and went throughout the day, some did their hour of activity and some stayed and played awhile.  The kids enjoyed the great crafts in the Root Beer tent, played with the remote control trucks, ran three-legged races and tried their luck at the egg toss.  There were great bands in the beer tent and a pancake breakfast Sunday morning.  Thanks to those who supported us, our team raised the second highest amount!

For information about the Piper Creek Optimists please visit their website or e-mail Dr. Stacy as he is a member of the club.
