T'was A Chiropractic Christmas

T'was the day before Christmas, but there was no cheer.
No jingle bells jingled, no sound of reindeer.
The word had gone out that Santa was sick.
There would be no visit from jolly St. Nick.

The people were sad; no gaiety sounded.
For Christmas had come, but Santa was grounded.
He drove down the road, and what should he see?
But a sign for a doctor, who was a D.C.

Now Santa was not one to like a new tactic,
But all else had failed, so he tried Chiropractic.
He entered the office and saw at a glance,
In a place such as this, illness hasn't a chance.

The office staff smiled, the music was snappy,
With all of the patients contented and happy.
In a very short time, to judge by the clock,
He was in the adjusting room, talking to Doc.

It must be the hurry, the tension and all,
I simply can't seem to get on the ball.
Life used to be easy; just kids, toys and whistles,
Now I dodge smog, spaceships and missiles.

And Doc, take a look at the size of this pack!
Have you any idea what it does to my back?
Poor Santa was miserable and just barely able,
With the help of the Doctor, to get on the table.

The Doctor was gentle; without a fuss or a tussle
He examined the vertebrae and relaxed every muscle.
He spotted trouble and then with a click,
Started aligning the spine of old St. Nick.

Santa felt aches and pains slipping away.
In no time at all he began to feel gay.
The air was a tingle with new fallen snow
And a healthy Kris Kringle was rarin' to go.

As he went out the door, he threw them a kiss;
Why, it had been centuries since he'd felt good as this!
Then once more he shouldered the bag full of toys,
His heart overflowing with true Christmas joys.

Question of the Month

What can I do to keep myself healthy around the Holiday Season?

The Holiday Season can be very stressful. With all the shopping, Christmas parties, and friends and family to see, it takes a toll on your health and well-being. Although it may seem like you don’t have any opportunities to take care of yourself during such a busy time, it’s the best gift you can give yourself. Take time out of your hectic schedule and make sure you’re doing things to improve your health. That includes getting your spine and nervous system checked for interference or subluxations so you can fully enjoy your holidays. Have a very Merry Christmas and a healthier New Year!

Stress Stamina Can Help Predict Health Risk: Study

A person's ability to cope with stress may help doctors predict their risk of heart and blood vessel disease, a Finnish study found. To view the entire article: http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/nm/20011119/hl/stress_3.html. This study was conducted over 20 years by studying 3,600 people. This is the first study that took into account temperament as a risk factor. "One cannot say what kind of stress is physiologically dangerous for people. It is how they feel the stress which determines whether they will get ill or not," one researcher said.

What determines what is good stress or bad stress for the body? Your nervous system and your personality style. If your perception is off, it literally can make us ill, seriously ill. We discussed both of these factors and a bit more in our Stress Workshop held in our office last month. Understanding this area is vital to lead a healthier life. If you want more information on our next Workshop or would like this brought to your workplace, please contact us at the office.

Children's Immune System May Be Influenced in Womb

The rigor of a child's immune system could be established before birth, say investigators who believe that the prenatal environment may play a role in whether or not an infant becomes more or less susceptible to asthma and allergies later in childhood. The entire article can be viewed at: http://dailynews.yahoo.com/htx/nm/20011119/hl/children_3.html. This conclusion was reached after noticing that first born children are more likely to develop asthma and allergies.

The theory behind this is that second, third and further children are exposed to more germs, viruses and bacteria when there are more siblings around. This then exercises the immune system even inside the womb. This makes common sense. We might not need to be so anti-germs as we are now. The bugs might not be the big threat we currently think they are.
