The Force is Within You
In the original movie from the Star Wars series, the mission to destroy the Death Star approaches. Luke Skywalker is apprehensive and nervous. Then we hear the distinct voice of his mentor and teacher, Obi Wan Kenobi, in his head “The force is with you, always.” This reassures and calms Luke as he departs. From that famous line, “May the force be with you” became a familiar catch phrase.
Within each one of us there is a force that is greater and more powerful than the one referred to in the Star Wars movie. It is with us 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Different healing disciplines call it different things. Life force, chi or qi are some examples. In the chiropractic profession, the spark of life that animates and makes us alive is known as your Innate Intelligence.
This force keeps the stomach digesting, your kidneys filtering, your heart beating and your immune system working. It allows your body to do thousands of things simultaneously, coordinating and organizing each process. The amazing thing about this force is that it doesn’t just maintain the function of your being, it is always striving to do it better. It is always constructive.
When this force is fully expressed in you, your life experience improves. The clarity with which you see the world around you is sharpened. Your existence switches from surviving each day to thriving in it. All the healthy habits you have are enhanced by a clear expression of your life force or innate intelligence.
One of the main avenues for the expression of your innate intelligence is over your nervous system. The life-giving messages originate in different parts of the brain and use the telephone line of the body, the nerves, to transmit them. Your skull and spine are designed to protect the brain and nerves at all times. When the spine loses its natural balance, unusual and damaging tension is placed on the nerves. If you have ever experienced a cell phone call getting out of range, the same situation can happen to your nerves and innate intelligence.
Chiropractors work to improve the relationship between the spine and the nervous system. When that relationship is strong and supportive, your innate intelligence is on job. Consult a chiropractor to make sure it is fully expressed. The force is within you!
Question of the Month
Why would I want to keep going to a chiropractor even after I feel better?
Continuing to be under chiropractic care has many benefits whether you have symptoms or not. Your spine is the main support for your nervous system. Messages that run and manage your health originate and travel over the nervous system. Low-grade misalignments of your spine don’t cause pain but can disrupt those messages, causing a downward spiral in your health. Regular chiropractic adjustments remove the low-grade misalignments. Your body can better manage your health and wellness when the messages get through clearly. You can enjoy a healthier lifestyle. Skiing a full day, completing the round of golf and picking up your grandkids can be performed with greater ease. Stick with your care even after you “feel” better.

Health News
New Warnings on Blood Pressure
“Millions of people who thought they had healthy blood pressure are about to get a surprise: The government says levels once considered normal or borderline actually signal “prehypertension,” and those people must take care to stave off full-blown high blood pressure.” So says a report released in mid-May. It’s official! Almost all of us now are sick. The solution, those with high blood pressure (120/80 isn’t healthy anymore) will need
at least two medications to control this dangerous disorder. Does anyone else see that this is getting ridiculous? For an opposing view on this study, click on the following link:
THE NEW HYPERTENSION GUIDELINES (May 21)
. The author of the original study states that if we live long enough, we will all have hypertension. Do you think that might mean it’s normal?
Fruit Juice a Two-Edged Sword for Kids
"Parents think that because fruit juices are natural that they are a healthy drink, so they don't put a limit on how much their children consume," says study author Dr. Sarita Dhuper. This study finds obese children drink 65 percent more:

Recent studies have indicated that obesity in children is becoming a real problem. Some estimates go as high as 1 in 5 children are obese. Being aware of something like fruit juices can be another piece of the puzzle as we work to improve our kid’s health.
