2008

The Year for Renewal

Patient Stories

Donna Knutson

I have an amazing story to relate on the diversity of chiropractic care.  For close to 30 years I have suffered with Irritable Bowel Syndrome.  For some reason, since late 2002 I began experiencing frequent liquid diarrhea.  My physician ordered the usual stool samples which came back negative.  As the months passed I grew weary of diarrhea in response to even a drink of water.  I began to sense the problem was mechanical in origin.  As a last resort I went to my chiropractor, Stacy Larsen, who felt he could help me.  After the second treatment and the resulting severe large bowel pain, I knew the whole area was coming alive again for the first time in months!  By mid-September, after 5 treatments, I was functioning at a more normal level than I had in 30 years.  No more IBS symptoms!  No more fear of finding the closest washroom in time!  Being able to resume my active lifestyle, filled with health and energy.  During a colonoscopy in December 2003, I told the specialist my story and he agreed that chiropractic was my best treatment option, as there was nothing he could have done for the compressed nerves in my spine that led to IBS and diarrhea.  So thank you to Stacy Larsen and the field of chiropractic.

Donna Bragg

Having experienced terrible pain for the last 3 years from a work related incident Donna came to our office hesitantly through a referral from another care provider.

1. Why did you come to our office?  I came because I couldn't handle the pain any more. I was ready to forget life and couldn't have went on with the pain like it was. I was at the end of my rope and nothing else had helped any.  I had seen a chiropractor before but was scared to go again, I didn't want to get hurt more.  Other people told me over and over that Dr. Stacy didn't 'crunch' you and that he was real gentle with you.  It took awhile to be convinced.

2.  What changes did you notice after being under care?  The excruciating pain lessened.  It took awhile and I saw him often to begin with.  Now I'm taking less medication, getting some sleep and my bowels are working better.

3.  Did it affect or make a difference in your quality of life? I just laid in bed and suffered before.  I couldn't go out to restaurants or enjoy things.  Now I'm getting out more and have much less stress from not being in such pain all the time.  All this has been hard on my son too.

4.  What was your overall experience?  I learned that there was more help out there than just twisting and cracking.  I have some quality of life now, it's not cured but I can at least live with it now.

5.  What could you tell others about chiropractic care and our office?  If you are thinking of going to a chiropractor check into how they do things. Go to Stacy.  He doesn't hurt you.

Edelgart Vogel

I came to the office basically because I knew I wanted to continue with chiropractic care. I used to work with Carol, so I felt comfortable asking her a bunch of questions about what to expect. I have been under care before and didn't want any surprises this time. Those scans are amazing! I'd never heard of a non-invasive way to check the nervous system before.

At first, after being under care, I noticed that I needed more sleep (the body healing). After that I regained my energy plus more. My job is physically demanding, so I have noticed a few more aches and pains. I feel this mainly because I have become more aware of my body. The pains have always been there, I just never paid attention before. I did what I had to and ignored the pain.

Overall coming here has been a positive experience. I would recommend that everyone attend a Wellness Clinic (W.O.W.). They are a wealth of information. If you still wonder about something, just ask Dr. Stacy and Carol, they are very approachable.  Chiropractic care definitely does improve the quality of one's life. I feel more alive, not just merely existing.

Mary Weiers

Mary came to our office because of migraine headaches she had suffered from twice every week since she was school age. She is now 74. This is her experience since starting care in our office.

1.  Why did you come to our office?  Because my family convinced me that it would help with my migraine headaches.

2.  What changes did you notice after being under care?  Started to have less headaches and had NO migraines.

3.  Did it affect or make a difference in your quality of life?  Yes, I can plan things (for example outings) now with much more freedom because I don't have the fear of developing a migraine somewhere along the way.

4.  What was your overall experience?  Relief.

5.  What could you tell others about chiropractic care and our office?  That the chiropractic care and massages have helped me tremendously and I find the atmosphere in the clinic very comfortable.

I have been seeing Doctor Stacy for about 8 years. I came to him with a sore neck and stiffness in my upper body. After two adjustments I notice a significant improvement in my total mobility and upper body motion. I continue with regular chiropractic care and have learned to read my body and know when it is out of alignment.

My children also see Doctor Stacy and when they are adjusted and aligned they don't get as sick as often as the other kids do. But if and when they get sick, they don't seem to be as sick or as sick as for long as other children.

Chiropractic care has improved our quality of life. It's not just about stiffness and not being able to move, it is about total body health. When you have proper alignment the whole body benefits. So how can chiropractic care not improve your quality of life, when it does so much more than relieve sore and stiff muscles? I would highly recommend Doctor Stacy to anyone that is looking to improve their overall health. It all starts with an adjustment. Be healthy!

Griffyn Craig

We initially came to the Larsen Family Chiropractic office to seek help for our four month old son Griffyn. At six weeks of age he developed eczema, which covered almost his entire body from head to toe. His skin was extremely red, itchy and oozing, and he was losing sleep because of his excessive scratching.

Because of our family's strong belief in natural health, we chose not to use the steroid creams that the medical doctors had prescribed for him. However, the various alternate therapies we were using were not consistently relieving his skin. We found out through a family friend that Dr. Larsen provided chiropractic care for babies.

After his first few treatments, we noticed Griffyn would sleep better and after a few months, his skin was beginning to clear up in certain areas on his body. Griffyn's quality of life has greatly improved because he is now able to sleep at night and after 5 months of weekly chiropractic treatments, the eczema is now localized to small areas on his face.

We have found for Griffyn that chiropractic care is not a one-shot cure-all. His treatments have been ongoing and we have noticed continuing progress with every week of treatment. Our overall experience at Larsen Family Chiropractic has contributed to our family's holistic outlook on health and we are now aware of how important the central nervous system is to our well being.

The staff at Larsen Family Chiropractic are genuinely concerned and committed to providing quality chiropractic care in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We look forward to the care that Dr. Larsen and Carol Simpson can provide our family in the future to maintain our optimum health.

I came to meet Dr. Larsen through a referral from my wife Brenda. She had attended Dale Carnegie with Stacy and spoke very highly of him. I suffered an injury due to a fall and given that I could not get out of bed I needed professional help. Stacy did a great job getting me back on my feet and I have been pleased to call him my chiropractor and friend for a few years now.

The environment that has been created at Larsen Family Chiropractic is unique as it is open and bright and not your typical health care professionals office. I am believer that chiropractic is part of an ongoing wellness program and I love knowing that whether it's as simple as my "tone" being a little off or if I have an injury or condition that needs intensive treatment I will get the care I need by a doctor I trust.

I would recommend Larsen Family Chiropractic to my family, friends or clients at anytime.
